This examination evaluates how well the nervous system functions—including the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Through simple tests, a clinician assesses how the body responds to various stimuli and can identify early signs of issues related to impaired nerve function.
What the Examination Includes:
• Testing reflexes and movement coordination – assessment of deep tendon reflexes (e.g., knee, Achilles) as well as superficial reflexes (e.g., abdominal).
• Measuring muscle strength and sensitivity – helps detect weakness, numbness or balance impairment.
• Evaluation of cognitive function and memory – basic tests indicating whether the brain is responding and processing information correctly.
